There are some great hip hop artists from France. The first artist is IAM. IAM is a band that most of the members are from Marseille. The members of the band are Philippe Fragione, Geoffroy Mussard, Khops, Pascal Perez, and Franois Mendy. The name stands for “Invasion from Mars.” The band was formed in 1985. But back then they were called Lively Crew. Most of their songs have something to do with Africa or Ancient Egypt. This is because they have something to say about issues of slavery in Africa. They base some of their songs on other people’s hits.
The second artist is Oxmo Puccino. Oxmo Puccino is the stage name for Abdoulaye Diarra. He was born in 1974 in Sgou, Mali. Then he moved to Paris in 1975. He has a very famous brother, the basketball player Mamoutou Diarra. He was very inspired by the artist Notorious B.I.G. His debut was in the movie Arthur and the Minimoys that came out in 2006. He begin his career in raping at the age of 21. He has had six albums out since 1998 and appeared in eight small movies since 1996. His first solo album was released in 1998.
The third artist is MC Solaar. MC Solaar was born to the name Claude M’Barali on March 5th, 1969. He is one of the most popular rappers that is from France. Most of his music is the kind where everyone who is listening to it just wants to get up and dance. He has had seven studio records and one live album since his career started. He is married with two kids, a boy and a girl.
